LSMGA Members:

I am pleased to report that your collective generosity throughout the 2024 season has made it possible for LSMGA to make a donation of $15,500 to Hospice and Community Care. That sum represents the combined contributions of all LSMGA members from all sources.
Golf leagues keep statistics. Here is one statistic that no league I know of can possibly match: Over the past 14 years, LSMGA has now donated a total of $137,600 to Hospice and Community Care. That is an accomplishment we can all be proud of.
103 of our 148 members, or 70%, donated all or part of their season-long winnings to Hospice. 91 of the 103 donated 100% of their winnings. Many others made significant individual contributions. And, of course, everyone who participated in our Memorial Tournament fundraising activities had a big hand in reaching our final total. Once again this year, it was a true team effort.
At our season-ending banquet, Denny Hornberger won the 50/50 drawing. The pot had reached $800, meaning that Denny walked away with a $400 share. In true LSMGA spirit, Denny will donate a sizable portion of his 50/50 winnings to flood and hurricane relief efforts. Denny’s decision represents the true character of LSMGA. There are many golf leagues around, but few that commit themselves to being a force for good in our community like LSMGA does.
On behalf of all LSMGA officers, I wish you and your families the best until we get together again for LSMGA 2025 next spring. Thanks to each of you for having made 2024 another great LSMGA season.
Joe Riley, LSMGA Treasurer
